Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Peter Aff, a farmer, his wife Maria Elisabeth, and children (Anna Elisabeth, age 24; Anna Margaretha, age 15; Johann Peter, age 11; Johann, age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg. They settled in the Volga German colony of Kraft on 18 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47. The 1767 census records that Peter Aff came from the German village of Ruppertsburg in the Laubach region. There to not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
