Gottfried Altmann, a single student, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 7 May 1766 aboard the galliot named Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Heyer.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 5 March 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 209.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Gottfried Altmann came from the German region of Anhalt-Zerbst. The 1767 census records that Gottfried Gilrat Altmann came from the German village of Coswig in the region of Anhalt-Zerbst.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Altmann family among the Volga German colonies.
