There are two Amrein families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Johann Amrein, a hosier, and his wife Anna arrived in Oranienbaum.
It is not known what happened to this family after arrival in Russia.
(2) Johann Adam Amrain from Schildkröppen [Schöllkrippen] married on 3 May 1766 in St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Büdingen to Anna Maria Kemmer from Alstadt.
Johann [Adam] Amrein, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived in Oranienbaum.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Hildmann on 20 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 30 along with the widow Katharina Kern. There is no relationship recorded between the Amrein and Kern families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Amrein families came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that Adam Amrein came from the German region of Aschaffenburg.
