Discussion & Documentation
Mathias Ancre, a farmer, his wife Anna [widow of Georg Kammerer], and stepdaughter Konstansia Kammerer (age 14) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jakob Janson.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Göbel on 20 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 58.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census recorded that Mathias Ancre came from the German town of Danzig.
