Anschutz (Kaneau)
Lorenz Anschutz and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Lorentz Anschutz, his wife Anna Catharina, and son Conrad (age 7) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
His wife and son died after arrival in Russia. He remarried to the widow Katharina Müller and they settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 31 along with stepson Gottlieb Müller.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Lorenz Anschutz was a blacksmith while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.
The 1767 census records that Lorenz Anschutz came from the German village of Waldau in Sachsen (Saxony).
