Nikolaus Astian, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and children (Johannes, Susanna, Anna, & Nikolaus) settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 6 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 43.
The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Astian came from Luxembourg.
