Bähr (Kamenka-1)
Samuel Bähr, a joiner (Tischler), and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Katharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Peter Röder.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 1 March 1767. Samuel is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 1 along with his new wife Katharina, her children (Elisabeth, age 17; Julianna, age 15½; and Franz Jakob, age 1½) [surname not recorded, but determined to be Werner], and another child Heinrich (age 2-months) who is probably Samuel's.
Orphan Georg Kenär (age 14), son of the deceased Georg Kenär is also recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 1 with the Samuel Bähr family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Bähr and Kenär families although they arrived aboard the same ship in Oranienbaum.
The 1767 census records that Samuel Bähr came from the German region of Bamberg.
