Johann Jakob Becker, a farmer, his wife Maria, and sons (Johann Martin, age 14; Justus, age 7) settled in the Volga German colony of Ernestinendorf on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 1.

The 1767 census records that Johann Jakob Becker came from the German village of Oberkleen.
