Discussion & Documentation

Conrad Becker from Maar in the area of Lauterbach & Eliesabetha Bott were married on 11 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Johann Konrad Bäcker, a farmer, his wife Anna Elisabeth, and his sister Maria Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Lieutenant Gawril Poduzki.

Johann Conrad Becker, his wife Elisabeth, son Johannes (born en route), and sister Maria Elisabeth (age 18) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Stephan on 24 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.

In 1790, Johann Heinrich Bäcker and his family moved from Stephan to Müller.

In 1795, Johann Bäcker moved from Stephan to Sarepta.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Konrad Bäcker came from the German region of Riedesel. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Maar in the Lauterbach region.
