Jean (Nicolas) Bague, a plowman (laboureur) and winemaker (vigneron), age 30, is recorded on a list of French colonists dated September 1764.

Jean Bagu, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 28 July 1765. He and his wife Maria Louise are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8.

The 1764 list of colonists records that Jean (Nicolas) Bague came from the French region of Comte. The 1767 census records that Jean Bagu came from the French village of Besançon.
