There appear to be two separate Bär families in Yagodnaya Polyana
Johann Konrad Bär was born in Nidda, Hessen, Germany. He married Anna Katharina Erck, daughter of Johann Christoph Erck & Anna Margaretha Runck. She was born 26 December 1721 in Nidda.
Johann Konrad Bär, a farmer, his wife Katharina, daughters (Anna Margaretha, age 17¼; Maria Katharina, age 12), and his father-in-law widower Christoph Erck arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 August 1766 aboard the galliot named St. Johannes (Saint John) under the command of Skipper Carstens Stahl.
The Bär family settled in Yagodnaya-Polyana on 16 September 1767, where they are listed on the 1767 Census in Household No. 77. Anna Katharina's father settled in Frank.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Konrad Bär came from the German region of Darmstadt.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Bär family among the Volga German colonies.
