Friedrich Baumann, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Beauregard on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 17 along with his stepson, Michael Zizel (age 17).

The 1767 census records that Friedrich Baumann came from the German village of Nieheim.
