Nikolaus Becker, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 10.

Following the destruction of Chasselois, the Becker family relocated to the colony of Louis.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Becker came from the German village of Saarburg in the Trier region.
