Bender (Ober-Monjou)
Philipp Bender, a farmer, his wife Maria, children (Elisabeth, age 15; Anna, age 12; Andreas, age 10; Philipp, age 8; Katharina, age 3), and servant Katharina (age 19, surname not recorded) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Philipp Bender, his wife Maria Dorothea, children (Maria, age 12; Philipp, age 7; Elisabeth, age 5; Catharina, age 3, died en route), and servant Katharina [Eichhorn] (age 20) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They are recorded on the list of Beauregard recruits that accompanies the 1767 census in Household No. 36 along with a note that they relocated to the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou in 1768.
In 1790, Philipp Bender moved from Ober-Monjou to Dehler.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Philipp Bender came from the German region of Bassenheim. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Wernborn.
