Johann [Heinrich] Bender, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 121.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Bender came from the German region of Hannover while the 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Michelbach in the Hanau region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Bender family among the Volga German colonies.
