Discussion & Documentation

Johann Bergmann, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Galka on 13 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 24.

There is a deceased Johann Bergmann recorded on the 1798 census of Dreispitz in Household No. Dr35. This is thought to be the same Johann Bergmann who settled first in Galka.

The 1767 census records that Johann Bergmann came from the German village of Elmenhorst.

The Johann Bergmann recorded in Dreispitz does not have any surviving male descendants.
