Georg Bickel, a baker (Bäcker), and his wife Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard the ship named Die Neue Fortuna (The New Fortune) under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.
Georg Bückel [sic] is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Georg Bickel, a baker (Bäcker), and his wife arrived in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 15 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 60 along with orphan Elias Specht (age 17). The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Bickel and Specht families. The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Georg Bickel came from the German region of Bamberg. The 1767 census records that Georg Bickel came from the German village of Götzendorf [?] in the Bamberg region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Bickel family among the Volga German colonies.
