Johannes Bietz, a farmer, his wife Marianna,and children (Johann, 15; Karl, age 10¼; Peter, age 6; Kaspar, 3-weeks-old) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert.
Orphaned siblings Johannes Bietz (age 16), Karl Bietz (age 14), and Peter Beitz (age 8) are recorded on the 1767 census of Pfeifer in Household No. 29 along with the Johannes Homann family. They had arrived in Pfeifer on 15 June 1767. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Bietz and Homann families.
There is a Christoph Pietsch [Bietz?] and his wife recorded on the 1798 census of Preuss in Household No. Ps87. It is possible that he is connected to the Bietz family in Pfeifer. There are no known descendants of the Pietsch/Bietz family in Preuss.
The descendants of Johannes Bietz are recorded on the 1834 census of Pfeifer in Households No. 4, 66, 105, and 176.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johannes Bietz came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that the children came from the German village of Aschaffenburg.
