Discussion & Documentation

Jakob Blank, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Wilhelmina, age 16; Johann, age 14; Georg, age 12; Katharina, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Jacob Blanck [sic], his wife Elisabet, and children (Wilhelmina, age 16; Johannes, age 13; Georg, age 11; Margaretha, age 2) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 53.

In 1788, Johann Georg Blank and his family moved from Schwed to Paulskaya.

The 1767 census records that Johann Jakob Blank came from the German village of Bach in the region of Darmstadt.
