Discussion & Documentation

Andreas Blesau, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Der Kleine Andreas under the command of Skipper Jakob Jansen.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Frank in 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 66.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Andreas Blesau came from the German village of Berlin. The 1767 census records that Andreas Blesau came from the German village of Werbellin in the Brandenburg region.

There are no known surviving male descendants of this Blesau family among the Volga German colonies.
