Johann Mattias Boos and his wife Katharina Elisabeth are recorded on the 1767 census of Kukkus in Household No. 16. They had settled there on 26 June 1767.
In 1788, Mattias Buss and his family moved from Schäfer to Katharinenstadt. They are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Ka026.
The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Albig in the Kurpfalz.
