Johannes Born [erroneously recorded by some sources as Baron], a farmer, was born 26 May 1740 in Partenstein.
Johannes Born and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper John Scott.
Hans Born, his wife Catarina, and daughter Catharina (age 1¼) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Catharina died en route.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Stephan on 24 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 31.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Baron [sic] came from the German village of Barkastein [Partenstein].
