Discussion & Documentation

Johann Bonträger [sic], a farmer, his wife Maria, and son Johannes (age 3) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Boisroux in Household No. 53.

It is not known in which colony they settled. However, Regina Keilmann née Bornträger and her family are recorded on the 1798 census of Meinhard in Household No. Mn01. Margaretha Fellinger née Bornträg[er] from Meinhard and her family are recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka107.

The 1767 census records that Johann Bonträger [sic] came from the German village of Ingersheim.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Bornträger family among the Volga German colonies.
