Friedrich Böttcher, a window maker (Fensterschreiner), his wife Anna, and children (Flaun, age 5; Anna, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 3 June 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 55.
The 1767 census records that Friedrich Böttcher came from the German town of Schleswig in the Holstein region.
