Mattias Brehm, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Barbara, age 20; Anna Maria, age 18; Katharina, age 13½; Hans, age 11; Philipp, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Vergelte Weintraube under the command of Skipper Anderson.
Mattias died after arriving in Russia and his widow Katharina remarried to Johannes Schaaf who had arrived in Oranienbaum on the same ship. They settled in the Volga German colony of Keller on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 59.
Following the destruction of Keller, the Brehm family relocated to the colony of Neu-Kolonie.

Johannes Brehm is recorded on the 1811 census of Neu-Kolonie in Household No. 1.
Johannes Brehm is recorded on the 1834 census of Neu-Kolonie in Household No. 39.
The death of Johannes Brehm in 1837 is recorded on the 1850 census of Neu-Kolonie in Household No. 73.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Mattias Brehm came from the German region of Mainz.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Brehm family among the Volga German colonies.
