The Lutheran parish register in Büdingen records the marriage of Anton Breitenstein and Maria Katharina Schwager on 10 March 1766.
Anton Breitenstein, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Göbel on 25 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29 along with his new wife Margaretha and her sisters (Anna Maria, age 13; Elisabeth, age 10) [surname not recorded].
Christian Breitenstein and his siblings are recorded on the 1798 census of Göbel in Household No. Gb23.
The 1834 census of Göbel records in Household No. 129 that Johannes Breitenstein and his family moved from Göbel to Preuss in 1829. They are recorded on the 1834 census of Preuss in Household No. 80.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anton Breitenstein came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that Anton Breitenstein came from the German village of Tating in the Kurmainz region.
