Discussion & Documentation

Jean Budar was born about 1797 in Krezma [?] in France.

He served as a soldier in the French Infantry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against and was captured by the Russians. In 1820, he was settled in the Volga German colony of Beauregard.

Milovidov records that as of 1820, his father, mother, and brother were still living in Krezma [?].

He is recorded on the 1834 census of Beauregard in Household No. 68 along with a note that he had been placed in Beauregard by the Kontora [Office of Immigrant Oversight] in 1820, and that he had been absent since 1820.

Milovidov records that Jean Budar came from the French village of Krezma [?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this Budar family among the Volga German colonies.
