Ludwig Burgardt, his wife Magdalena, mother-in-law Eva [surname not recorded], and sister Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Hildmann on 20 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ludwig Burgardt was a farmer from the German region of Isenburg. The 1767 census records that he was a tailor (Schneider) from the German village of Wenzenbach.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Burgardt family among the Volga German colonies.
