(1) Johannes Burkhardt married in Gersfeld on 15 October 1756 to Margaretha Barthelmeß, daughter of Sebastian Barthelemeß & Elisabetha Wohlmacher. She had been born in Gersfeld on 8 March 1734.
Johann Burghardt, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and daughters (Margaretha, age 13; Dorothea, age 10; Anna, age 8; Barbara, age 5¼; Anna, age 2¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Catharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Peter Rehder.
Johann Borkhardt [sic], a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and daughters (Margaretha, age 14½; Dorothea, age 10½; Anna, age 8; Barbara, age 6½; Anna, age 2) are recorded on the 1767 census of Walter in Household No. 16. They had arrived in Walter on 25 August 1767.
(2) Nicolaus Burkhardt, a farmer, and his wife Gertrude are recorded on the 1767 census of Walter in Household No. 106. They had arrived in Walter on 10 September 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Burghardt came from the German village of Gersfeld. The 1767 census records that both brothers came from the German village of Gersfeld.
