Johannes Deckert, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and son Johann[es] (age 14) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Vergoldete Weintraube (The Guilded Grape) under the command of Skipper Joachim Hermann Andersen.
Johann Tochert [sic], his wife Anna Mar. Cathar., and sons (Johann, age 6; Carpar, born in route) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach. Son Johannes is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs114.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that the Deckert family came from the German region of Darmstadt.
