Justus Deus [sic], his wife Anna, and children (Michael, age 19; Heinrich, age 15; Johann, age 11; Jakob, age 7; Katharina, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.
Abraham Sonnenblatt is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 21 along with his [new] wife and her children (Karl [Deus], age 15; Heinrich [Deus], age 12; Michael [Deus], age 10; Jakob [Deus], age 7; Katharina [Deus], age 3). The 1767 census also recorded a note that the family relocated to the Volga German colony of Schaffhausen in 1768.
Michael Teist [sic] from Schaffhausen and his family (including sons Johann Christian, age 16; Heinrich, age 9; Justus, age 7; Johann Peter, age 5) are recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka151.
Heinrich Deis from Katharinenstadt and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Bettinger in Household No. Bt38.
Johann Jakob Deis, son of Heinrich Deis, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Bettinger in Household No. 78.
Subsequent censuses record this surname as Deis.
The 1834 census of Katharinenstadt records Heinrichin Household No. 190, Justus in Household No. 195, Christian in Household No. 309, and Peter in Household No. 358.
