Discussion & Documentation

Hermann Demann, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 25 August 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Walter on 10 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 99 along with his new wife Anna Martha.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Hermann Demann came from the German region of Darmstadt while the 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Unterwelsenborn.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
