Johann Adam Detterer from Gemmingen married Maria Susanna Schmidt on 27 July 1756 in Ehrstädt-Neuhaus. She was born there on 22 June 1733.
The Detterer family moved first to the colony of Neubörm in Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein). They left Denmark in 1765 and joined the migration to Russia.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 21 July 1766 where they are listed along with 3 children on the 1767 census of Dönhof in Household No. 8.
