Nikolaus Dinkel, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 16 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Dinkel family among the Volga German colonies.
