Jakob Eckel, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Christina settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 18 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 35.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Eckel came from the German district of Isenburg.
