Discussion & Documentation

Johann [Heinrich] Erhardt, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Heinrich Erhard [sic] (age 20)  is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Orphan Heinrich Ehrhardt (age 20) is recorded on the 1767 census of Philippsfeld in Household No. 4 along with the Thomas Gose family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Ehrhardt and Gose families.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Erhardt came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census does not record from where Heinrich Ehrhardt came.

There are no known surviving lines of this Erhardt family among the Volga German colonies.
