Discussion & Documentation
Johann Peter Eng, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 141 along with stepchildren (Johann Geier, age 11; Maria Margaretha Geier, age 5). Based upon the age of these children, they must be from a previous marriage because neither Johann Peter Eng nor his wife Elisabeth are old enough to be their parents.
The 1767 census records that Johann Peter Eng came from the German village of Eschbach [today called Laubuseschbach] in the Runkel area.
