Johann Engeler, his wife Anna, and daughters (Anna, age 16¼; Maria, age 3) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 May 1766 aboard a galliot named Гданьская Надежда (Gdansk Hope) under the command of Skipper Johann Erdmann Geske.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 1 March 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 67.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Engeler was a farmer from Elbingen. The 1767 census records that Johann Engeler was a tiler (Fliesenleger) from the German town of Elbing in Poland.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Engeler family among the Volga German colonies.
