Discussion & Documentation

Klaus Ercks, a farmer, immigrated to Schleswig-Holstein (Denmark), arriving in Flensburg on 9 June 1762. He married 11 September 1764 to Anna Katharina, the widow of Johann Konrad Rückert. They deserted the Danish colonies between 27 April & 1 May 1765 and joined the migration to Russia.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 21 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 17.

Both the Eichhorns and the 1767 census record that Klaus Ercks came from the German region of Holstein.

There are no surving male descendants of Klaus Ercks among the Volga German colonies.
