Johann Erlenbach, his wife Anna Elisabeth, son (Johann Nikolaus Joseph, age 1½), and stepson (Johann Jakob, age 3½) [surname not recorded] are recorded on the 1767 census of Mariental in Household No. 5. They had arrived in Mariental on 16 June 1766.

Son Johannes Erlenbach died in Rohleder on 31 January 1797 at the age of 33.

The 1767 census records that Johann Erlenbach came from the German village of Ladenburg in the Kurpfalz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Erlenbach family among the Volga German colonies.
