Gottfried Ermisch, a single miller, and his brother Gottfried [sic] (age 20) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
Joh. Gottfried Ermisch is recorded on a list of colonists being transferred from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that he died in route. Gottfried Ehrlich [sic] (age 20) is recorded later on the same list.
Gottlieb Ermisch (age 20), a cobbler, and his [new] wife Anna are recorded on the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 26. They had arrived in Kaneau on 7 June 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that the Ermisch brothers came from the German region of Zerbst. The 1767 census records that Gottlieb Ermisch came from the German region of Bärenburg [?].
There are no known surviving male lines of this Ermisch family among the Volga German colonies.
