Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Georg Ewig, son of Johann Konrad & Anna Margaretha Ewig, was born on 21 April 1740 in Schriesheimer Hof, Kurpfalz. The family also lived in the village of Wilhelmsfeld.

He and his brothers (Johann Konrad, b. 1727, and Johann Michael, b. 1731) immigrated first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein).

On 13 June 1760, Johann Georg Ewig married in Thorning (Denmark) to Maria Margaretha Filbert, daughter of Johann Peter Filbert & Anna Maria Stock (see Filbert family). She had been born on 3 April 1736 in Gronau.

The three brothers and their families left Denmark in 1763 and immigrated to Russia.

They settled in the colony of Anton on 7 September 1764 where they are listed on the 1767 census in Households No. 25 (Georg), No. 42 (Nikolaus), and No. 43 (Michael).
