Christian Feil, a joiner, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767. Christian died there on 14 November 1767. His widow Maria Margaretha and son Christian (age 13) are recorded in Kukkus on the 1767 census in Household No. 48.
The 1767 census records that Christian Feil came from the German village of Weilrod near Braunfels. Christian Pfeil from Werdorf near Braunfels appears in documents of the Solms-Braunfels Archives requesting permission to depart for Russia in 1766. The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian Feil came from the German region of Saxony, but this appears to be an error.
The Kukkus website reports that this is probably the family of Christian Adolph Pfeil, son of Johann Christian Pfeil & Maria Margareta Schmoll, who was born on 30 January 1755 in Werdorf.
