Discussion & Documentation

Widow Maria Johannetta Ferner and her daughter Regina (age 6-months) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou (No. 30) along with a note that they settled in the Volga German colony of Zürich in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Maria Johannetta Ferner came from the German village of Zersardel.

There are no known surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies, so the surname does not continue.
