Johann Stephan Fink, a farmer, probably son of Maria Agnes Fink, immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), arriving in the city of Schleswig on 17 March 1761. He is last recorded among the Danish colonies on 22 April 1765.
He joined the migration to Russia and settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 21 July 1766. He is recorded on the 1767 census of Dönhof in Household No. 38 along with his new wife Anna Margaretha (widow of Wilhelm Daniel Schäfer), daughter Susanna Margaretha (age 1), and stepsons (Wilhelm Friedrich Schäfer, age 16; Philipp Heinrich, age 15).
The Eichhorns record that Johann Stephan Fink came from the German village of "Neulußheim, Unteramt Speyer, Klosteramt Maulbronn, Württemberg."
