Discussion & Documentation

Georg Fischer, a carpenter, his wife Christina, and daughters (Margaretha, age 13; Magdalena, age 8) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the galliot Die Hoffnung under the command of Skipper Johann Heschke.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach. Daughter Margaretha is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs101. Daughter Magdalena (from Hussenbach) is recorded on the 1798 census of Kautz in Household No. Kz30.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Georg Fischer came from the German village of Ulm.
