Johann Henrich Freÿ & Anna Maria Scharmann were married on 23 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.
Johann Heinrich Frei, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Huck on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 60.
They Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Heinrich Frei came from the German region of Darmstadt while the 1767 census records that he came from the German region of Kurpfalz.
