Discussion & Documentation

Widow Dorothea Friedrich and her children (Sophia, age 13; Johanna, age 9; Dorothea, age 7; Johann, age 4; Martin, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Widow Dorothea Friedrich and her children (Soph. Elisabet, age 11; Johanna Sophia, age 9; Joh. Martin, age 1) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Daughter Sophia is recorded on the 1767 census of Paulskaya in Household No. 41 along with the Joseph Kott family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Friedrich and Kott families.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Dorothea Friedrich came from the German village of Bernburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Friedrich family among the Volga German colonies.
