Göbel (Warenburg)
Asmus Göbel, a farmer, his wife Maria Dorothea, and children (Johann Heinrich, age 19; Maria Elisabeth, age 17; Christina Elisabeth, age 16; Susanna Katharina, age 14; Katharina Christina, age 11; Johann Konrad, age 8; Johann Philipp, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Die Neue Freiheit von Bremen under the command of Skipper Steingrawer.
Asmus Göbel died and his widow remarried to Friedrich Wilhelm Koch. They settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767. They and the surviving younger Göbel children are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 51. Oldest son, Johann Heinrich, is recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 42 along with his wife Anna Dorothea.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Asmus Göbel came from the German region of Usingen while the 1767 census records that Johann Heinrich Göbel came from the German region of Nassau.
