Anton Gänseblum, a farmer, and his wife Anna Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11.

The 1767 census records that Anton Gänseblum came from the German village of Saarburg in the Trier region.
